Director: Patrice Chéreau
Cast: Charlotte Rampling, Bruno Cremer, Edwige Feuillère
Run Time: 87min

Generation/Source: DVD/VHS Master

Subtitles: English

A pipipip project about which he says: “This French thriller with a star cast is only available as a weak DVD in UK. The picture is 4:3 letterboxed and the English subtitles are burnt in. Some time ago the movie was shown on German TV. I recorded it and tried to remove the TV station logo. This time it worked not 100% because the logo had opaque regions where some interpolation had to be used to eliminate it. But apart from that the video looks much better than on the DVD.The subtitles are captured from the UK-DVD and converted to proper soft subs which can be switched off if you don’t want them. The movie starts in German if the preferred audio language of your DVD player is German, in French without subs if the player language is French and in all other circumstances in French with English subs.

“A disturbed young woman is kept prisoner in a castle by her aunt for her money. The game-keeper, her guardian, tries to rape her but she escapes. In her flight she meets a man also running away from two killers.” [imdb]

Subtitles: English

A hipcamp project about which he says: “Using the Spanish DVD, I stripped away everything but the main feature, added English audio and English fansubs. So now you have the untouched video with dual audio Spanish/English and optional English subs. Use your remote to select between audio tracks, and to turn the subs on and off. Thanks to the unknown fandubber who synched the audio, and Turdis and mcduck for the subtitles!”

“Waldemar, the renowned adventurer, joins an expedition to find the Yeti in the Himalayas. They transform him into a werewolf setting him loose to roam the mountain where he encounters a sadistic bandit.” ~imdb

L’Orribile segreto del Dr. Hichcock

In House of the Ju-Ju Queen, Paprika Chips on September 10, 2013 at 1:03 pm

Title: L’Orribile segreto del Dr. Hichcock (The Horrible Secret of Dr. Hichcock)
Production: Italy 1962
Director: Riccardo Freda
Cast: Barbara Steele, Robert Flemyng, Silvano Tranquilli
Run Time: 85min
Circulation: PAL DVDr
Generation/Source: DVD Master
Language: Italian, English
Subtitles: English

A maca project about which he says: “I give you the fruits of a labor of love, and I do mean LABOR. This is probably my favorite Italian gothic horror film, and deserves a wider audience. Until now, it’s only been available in the US on terrible bootlegs at trade shows and such. I recently nabbed the gorgeous Italian DVD release from another tracker, where the poster was kind enough to add English fansubs. I decided to go one better, and rip the audio from my shitty bootleg VHS I bought about 10 years ago. Little did I know what I was getting into. The DVD is PAL; the VHS is NTSC; some shots go on longer on the DVD; some go on longer on the VHS, etc…
After 12 long hours of stretching audio, compressing audio, clipping audio, adding audio, and giving myself a nervous breakdown, here is a pretty damn seamless disc featuring your choice of Italian or English soundtracks, plus soft English subs.
The film itself is sick as hell, with Robert Fleming as a pervy doctor who likes to fondle female corpses in the morgue, and give his wives injections to bring about near-death so he can get his jollies at home, too. When he accidentally gives wife #1 too much, Barbara Steele becomes #2…
PLEASE NOTE: There’s a scene near the beginning of the English audio where you hear double sound for just a second or two; that was on the actual VHS and isn’t my doing. I have no idea why it was like that. Maybe whoever made the bootleg had their own sound problems.

“The year is 1885, and necrophiliac Dr. Hitchcock likes to drug his wife for sexual funeral games. One day he accidentally administers an overdose and kills her. He leaves his home shattered. Several years later he remarries and returns. Discovering that his still beloved first wife is alive but insane and prematurely aged, he plans to use the blood of his new bride to rejuvenate and heal her.” ~imdb

Agente segreto 777 – Invito ad uccidere

Title: Agente segreto 777 – Invito ad uccidere (A Ticket To Die)
Production: Italy 1966
Director: Enrico Bomba
Cast: Tiziano Cortini, Hélène Chanel, Claudie Lange
Run Time: 85min
Circulation: PAL DVDr
Generation/Source: TV Rip
Language: Italian, English
Subtitles: None

A pipipip project, adding an English dub to dreamwarrior82’s Italian TV capture.

“Jordan is an ex-secret agent who, after many years of service, gets the boot for “health reasons”. So he plans to sell a secret and highly sought after formula – if he can locate all three pieces of paper that the formula is written on, that is. His former superiors believe that he is close to getting the formula all for himself, so they send one of his old friends to convince him to cooperate with them again. You have to give “A Ticket To Die” credit for capturing the feel of a “serious” spy movie, from the raincoats that all the men wear to the footsteps sometimes being the only sound. However, the story is muddled (characters and incidents are introduced and then left unresolved), the direction is static, and the hero is OK but rather colorless. Hardcore fans of mid-1960s Euro-spy fare may like parts of this film, but others will probably find it too dull to sit through.
